Perfect irony is that charli xcx realizes she makes cheesy pop songs but still she is self aware and it makes it somehow intelligent in essence. I am starting to love her.
desecraitonsmile Can you explain the clip to me?
@@googleaccount-nm9zz Things look glossy on her phone, in RUclips videos, and even in Charli XCX songs and videos. Whenever the phone dies she just sees things as ugly (which might imply they are ugly in real life, or maybe that they are just less glamorous.) The second half of the video lost me. Except that she seems to plug her phone into a powerful charger (which is also grimy and disgusting) at the end, but it gets too much energy, and she dies happy by getting too exposed to the nice things she sees on her phone. The emojis might be her cheap feelings
No man, I love it, Boom Clap are so Epic...
@@ichimatsu4247 years late but thats just an explaination of the video what op means is that charli might write seemingly cheesy or mindless pop songs but shes incredibly intelligent and wants to make music thats fun and brings joy to people, while behind the scenes having full control and is 46 times certified platnium, not to mention platnuims for her song writing credits
Intelligent? Lmao, this is just crap. Simple as that
This video is amazing. When her phone is dead, the girl has to deal with real life, which is scary and awful. Then you see how famous popstars aren't as perfect as they look like and a lot of them only want to make money. But she charges her phone again and then she is saved from the cruel reality.
Thanks for explaining the Video 😁!
a lot of people disagree with this idk why or how!! CHARLI XCX is amazing and is a perfect human being!
C
Now, please explain the bondage collars. I don't like the idea of children advertising themselves for sexual submission.
+Terina Plyler They arnt bondage collars. And the girls aren't advertising themselves for sexual submission. The collars they're wearing are simply just a style trend going around. Just like the tennis skirt the girl is wearing, very popular right now as well. Everyone is wearing them. All chokers are popular right now, They're cute!
Okay but are we gonna ignore how charli literally predicted RUclips’s ad algorithm with the “AD 1 of 2” over 5 years ago??
How about in the 2:30 vicinity one of the guys is wearing a mask.

Yes queen
For those who don't get the video; At the beginning she's dancing around in her room watching Charli's video with a bunch of her posters around her room representing her love for Charli. When her phone battery died she was stuck in a void called reality. Then she got tablet and everything's okay representing how technology and social media controls our lives. Then her tablet died and she got pulled into reality again but this time with a deeper force. She was there with everyone who based their lives on technology and on the screen, it showed how Charlie isn't as always as perfect as she seems. She tried to charge her phone and when she did, she got a seizure and this time she was stuck forever. Her face was perfect and smiling at the end with emojis coming out of her head just like when emojis came out of Charli's body.
Very good analysis, Rose. I think you hit right on the head. I would add that people are increasingly self-absorbed, have a desire to be "young" forever (look at the plastic surgery folks) and social media only further fuels our self-absorbtion.
Thank you i knew this video had a deeper meaning to it so i was scrambling through the comments to find something! :)
& the meaning is so true.
Thanks, you explained it perfectly. I knew the video had meaning but i wasnt sure what it was
Rose Parker hey i know this is gonna sound really annoying but could anyone who reads this please check out my song CALLGIRL on my youtube page
Rose Parker The more simple explanation is that she is a symbol of people who use music to drown out the pain they have in their lives, and her obsession comes from the "high" i suppose you can call it from listening to her music and how it numbs the pain of family problems and from what i gather the lack of friends irl (her social media was more a fan page for others online.). However her obsession with a musician means nothing to the musician herself (the "buy my album" poster) and that the singer has her own problems to deal with and that she is only drowning out the others peoples pain for money.
the music industry is so funny...when an artist talk about sex, drugs and money the song becomes an hit. But when the song as a positive message the song don't get noticed.
sorry for my bad english
so truee
Uhm, the entire song is about drugs though
CoolExcite I was just saying

I hate it when the ghost of emo kids come into my room while I'm watching RUclips videos.

I can actually relate a lot to this video. I’m trying to get over my severe addiction to the Internet. I actually got so addicted to streaming on Twitch and to Discord that I ended up only eating 1 meal a day, staying up all night and sleeping all day, staying awake for over 36 hours straight, getting very bad grades and not doing much school, quitting my TaeKwonDo class, isolating myself and becoming completely alone and away from any real life social interaction, and in the end, it started making me more depressed. I’m numb to emotion half of the time. I’m getting a bit better, but I’m still very addicted to listening to music on RUclips. To everyone reading this, please consider taking a break from social media, even just for a day. Think about where you are in your life right now. Your REAL life. How is social media affecting you?
Thank you. How are you doing?
TRUST AND PRAY TO JESUS CHRIST THE ALMIGHTY FATHER HOLY SPIRIT
What’s sad is that I completely forgot about this comment until just now seeing these replies, but my addiction to social media got worse. Aside from listening to music on RUclips, I am currently on another break from it trying to get better, but my mental health is worse compared to this due to trying to get over a breakup from someone online (we planned to even meet irl at some point) and now with the whole quarantine stuff happening, and there’s no where irl to go.
@@Starlandeela15 I'm sorry to hear this. Have you reached out to get some counselling to help with your addiction? Most places are offering telehealth appointments now so it's safe.
purple milkshake I have actually been trying to get in contact with some counselors that are still helping people in some offices nearby, but if I don’t hear back from any of them soon, I will also be reaching out to some other counselors online and via Telehealth instead, which may be a safer option anyways. Thank you for your concern btw and for taking your time to read all of this, I really appreciate it, and hope you are doing well! 🙂

the video isnt about "technology", its about the power and control of the media.
if you turn off your devices and observe it all from a third person perspective, then you see whats really going on.
the media effects everything you do from what you wear, to the way you dance, and the trendy things you say.
ultimately, the media controls you if youre too involved.
the big guy at the end represents how all sources of media are controlled by a single power, a single group.
yes, electricity

How are there people who don't understand what this video is about? It's not like they're even trying to be subtle or cryptic about it.
please explain for me i am dumb
Marina Wellsway You aren't dumb. The video is about social media shaping reality and how obsessive society has become attach to their tablets and phones. Think about how having a video of someone dying gets a million hits like that cop in the uk that got gunned down or the kid in walmart. Then continue on to youtube celebs like pewdie pie or whoever. On the social media they are big but outside of it they are just average men and women. There were also some call out to the tv show Black Mirror which is a great show. I think it is on netflicks. Anyway no need to feel dumb. If you didn't get it it just means you probably have a life outside of social media.
Baron Of Hell "[...]like that cop in the uk that got gunned down or the kid in walmart" - huh?! What are you talking about there?
Baron Of Hell there was a cop that was gunned down i haven't seen that looking it up
Baron Of Hell So basicly i was right when i thought "Selfie Hell"
Really layered, nuanced direction. A definite five bagger.

An anti-consumerism video with a 'buy it now' prompt in less than 20 seconds. I don't know whether the hypocrisy is ironically brilliant or plain evil.
Why does this music video looks so early 2000-ish
Charli has such a 90s fetish!
+SixtySecond Yoga OMFG PHANDOM!!!!!
+My Life you can find the phandom anywhere!! 😂😂
+Fernando Gamboa. how even? great quality, many cell phones, good graphics etc I think not.
+svj jvs it's clearly a nineties style video. It's not unintentional.
Well, I'm gonna try and voice out my interpretation of this video. This is just MY perspective, you could take it another way. So basically, when she's on her phone taking selfies and listening to Charli, her surroundings are colourful, lively and beautiful. This might indicate how she feels "in" with the crowd and part of something "cool" and "fun" when she's sharing her photos on chat and jamming to Charli's music video. Everything seems perfect and feels perfect. When her battery dies, she then notices how bland, dark and ugly the real world is so she desperately tries to go back to her "perfect fun reality" when in actuality she's just escaping to an illusion because she doesn't like the ugly truth. We can also see this when she's transported in the White Room with the crazy and self-obsessed adults are taking selfies on selfies and all the teenage girls have collars, as if they're enslaved and unable to go off their phones. She's the ONLY one who's not on her phone so she can see things for what they truly look like. For example, Charli's actual face during the music video turns out to be ugly and instead of the smileys in the background there's skulls instead, but the ones on their phone see it as something so fun and beautiful. Ultimately she prefers the pretty illusion instead of the ugly, real thing so she desperately tries to plug her charger in the fat man's socket (we can assume he's technology or the internet) and gets more than her bargain when she's electrocuted and in the end goes back to her pretty fantasy/illusion.
dual sin Its kinda saying that when her phone or electronic turns off her life is boring and dead. and she's so consumed with social media she's basically become one of the zombies like the ones after her. at the end she's brain dead from doing nothing but social media & electronics. Slave to society basically.
OhYeahItsJake that's more or less what i think too
Bravo! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
dual sin You sir, are a genius.
Great. U could explain clearly. So i got the meaning of this video 👏😉
I miss 2015 so much

i love the ad thing, its just perfect for this kind of mv
This is the perfect transition from "mainstream pop Charli" in 2014 to Pop 2 where she did what she wanted and not what the record label thought would be the biggest hit. She wrote Doing It super quickly and thought it was rubbish, but the record label preferred it to something she spent 5 hours on. After Sucker I think it's really great she realized how pumping out mainstream pop like Boom Clap isn't all that fun compared to making actual, meaningful songs like Vroom Vroom.
Lmao vroom vroom is great and all but meaningful!? Lol
I was obsessed with this 4 years ago omgg
this is so 2014 i love it

I like the video I just don't understand why everyone is wearing a collar?
I think it's because we're all controlled by the media, but we're ok with it, kind of like dogs and their owners.. Idrk
90's fashion
Yeah I just looked it up and apparently it is. I was born in the 90s so I didn't really recognize it. The only time I'd ever seen collars used were in like animes and stuff.
They're chokers, a lot of girls use those in my school, I guess is just to represent teenagers girls
***** More like a late style trend. Tumblr girls just trying to look stylish by copying a trend from the late 90s, early 2000s.

Is anyone still listening in 2029?
Why did the director find it necessary to make a music video about people caring too much about technology, when the video is for a song about going to a part and getting high as a kite.

+The Big Bad Wolf Flurry Face
Yes I do, it's a song about getting high.
+CoolExcite its actually its telling us That People are getting high Famous is not for charli its a character
getting high on phones, Internet, social media etc..
CoolExcite I think it's because it's about the desire of being famous as in social media and among other things the director portray the dark side of that kind of obsession most people get nowadays
why the fuck is this song so underrated ?!!!
